During the Wednesday evening Lenten services this year, we will take a journey together with a series entitled The Stones Will Shout! Each sermon will use different kinds of stones as an inspiration point for us to reflect on how far we are from where God wants us to be because of our sin. Along the way, we will confess our faith, we will tell the truth about ourselves and we will eat and drink the bread and wine. As we leave worship, we will remove a stone from a basket and then lay our stones – and sins – down at the foot of a cross erected for that purpose, and leave in wonder. We will journey together through Holy Week and then together rejoice in the resurrection!
We share a light supper of homemade Soup and Bread at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Following supper, at 7:00 pm, we worship together in the Sanctuary. Holy Communion is shared at each midweek service.
Sign up to make soup or bread on the Communications Board outside the King's Gathering Room.
Visitors who have been baptized with water in the name of the Holy Trinity are invited to participate. Non-communing children and adults may come forward for a blessing.
At the table of our Lord Jesus Christ we receive Christ's body and blood and God's gifts of forgiveness of sin, life, and salvation to be received by faith for the strengthining of faith. Lutherans believe that the true body and blood of Christ are really present in the supper of our Lord under the form of Bread and Wine and are there distributed and received.
We will are using homemade bread for Holy Communion.
Sign up to make bread on the Communications Board outside the King's Gathering Room.
Communion Bread Recipe:
2 T. butter, melted
3 T. honey
½ c. warm water
¾ t. salt
¾ t baking powder
½ c. all-purpose flour
1 c. wheat flour
Melt butter. Add honey and dissolve with warm water. Stir in salt and baking powder. Mix in flours. Divide dough into 2 (8 inch) round cake pans that have been buttered. Use wheat flour on hands to pat down in bottom of pans. Lightly score a cross (plus sign) on top of breads (not cutting through, this divides the loaf in quarters and helps break it easily during distribution) with a sharp knife. Bake at 350º for 10 minutes until just lightly brown on edges. Flip out of pans onto cooling rack. Cool completely.
The Children's Message is a special time set aside in worship for young people (6th grade and below) to come forward for a special message.
Parking is available in the church parking lot located to the north and south of the building.
Handicap parking spaces are available by the north entrance. An elevator is also available at the north entrance for those for whom navigating the stairs is difficult.
